SHIELD KIDS FROM ONLINE DRUG HARMS

S. 1748 / H.R. 6484 — Kids Online Safety Act

Requires social media and online platforms to design software with children's safety in mind. Strengthens default protections for minors, limits harmful content, reduces addictive features, and increases accountability through independent evaluations.

CUT OFF FENTANYL AT THE SOURCE

H.R. 747 — Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act of 2025

Strengthens sanctions against Chinese producers of fentanyl and precursor chemicals. Expands the definition of foreign opioid trafficker and directs targeted financial penalties against entities that manufacture or fail to stop fentanyl production. Passed by the House.

END DEADLY MEDICAID DELAYS

S. 2533 — No Red Tape for Addiction Treatment Act

Amends the Social Security Act to remove Medicaid prior authorization for FDA-approved opioid use disorder medications, allowing patients to start treatment immediately and reducing dangerous bureaucratic delays.

STOP ONLINE PILL DEALERS

S. 2316 — Cooper Davis and Devin Norring Act

Requires online platforms to report suspected criminal drug trafficking to the Attorney General, preserve related evidence, and submit reports within 60 days. Directs the AG to publish an annual summary of reported trafficking activity.

HOLD REPEAT DEALERS ACCOUNTABLE

H.R. 780 — Alexandra’s Law

Amends the CSA to require courts to warn defendants convicted of fentanyl offenses that future distribution causing death could trigger federal homicide charges, documenting awareness of fentanyl’s lethal risks.

BRING FACTS TO EVERY SCHOOL

H.R. 3130 — FACTS Act

Authorizes HHS grants for state-education partnerships to implement evidence-based fentanyl awareness programs. Strengthens adolescent substance use research and establishes a federal interagency task force to guide overdose prevention.

PROTECT FAMILIES FROM ILLICIT XYLAZINE

S. 545 — Combating Illicit Xylazine Act

Classifies xylazine as a Schedule III controlled substance while preserving legitimate veterinary access. Strengthens DEA tracking and federal reporting on illicit xylazine to prevent diversion into the drug supply.

EXPAND RAPID DRUG DETECTION TOOLS

H.R. 1561 — ALERT Communities Act

Expands federal grants to support rapid test strips detecting fentanyl, xylazine, and other emerging substances. Directs HHS to establish guidance for test strip development and requires a study on overdose prevention impact.

HELP SCHOOLS RESPOND TO OVERDOSES

H.R. 7994 — Helping Educators Respond to Overdoses Act

Establishes a competitive grant program to equip schools with opioid overdose reversal drugs and train staff to respond in emergencies. Expands education on CPR, prevention, and overdose response for students.

STRENGTHEN EMERGENCY FENTANYL TESTING

S. 921 — Tyler’s Law

Directs HHS to research and establish guidance for routine fentanyl testing in emergency departments. The Senate has already reported the bill with unanimous bipartisan support — the House must act now.
