About Fentanyl Victims Fund (FVF)
What is the Fentanyl Victims Fund?
A grassroots initiative driven by family members who lost a loved one to fentanyl poisoning. Its objective is to pursue justice, accountability, and, ultimately, financial relief.
What is the purpose of the petition?
Because one unified voice carries more weight than scattered individual pleas, the petition unites bereaved family members with similar stories to join together as one group in order to help determine how funds seized from Mexican cartels, are distributed.
What do the cartels have to do with fentanyl?
Mexican cartels, primarily the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generción, manufacture illicit fentanyl including counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl knowing it can poison and kill users. Fentanyl has become the number one cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 45 today, with over 20 high school students being poisoned every week.
Who can sign the petition?
The FVF petition is for family members who have lost a loved one to fentanyl poisoning though all concerned citizens are invited to join the cause.
What happens after I sign?
Information will be added to a secure database. As the FVF campaign progresses, updates on progress will be sent to victims via email. Victim information will not be shared with third parties without future consent.
Is this a lawsuit?
At this stage, no. The initial aim of the FVF is a “seat at the table” in determining how hundreds of millions of dollars seized from the Mexican cartels are allocated.
Who is organizing Fentanyl Victims Fund?
United Against Fentanyl, a national advocacy group, has been asked to convene and administrate FVF on behalf of survivor families. Bereaved family members will serve as primary spokespeople.
How would funds be distributed to families?
Funds would be distributed directly to a next-of-kin family member (or members) as would be executed in a class action lawsuit.
Are efforts being made to seek compensation from other culpable entities?
The current focus is money seized from Mexican cartels, though the effort could be extended in the future.

Why Fentanyl Victims Fund Exists

I live on SS, I didn’t have the money at the time to pick up his ashes. I let my car insurance everything go, until they would give me his ashes. He is now with me.

I lost my son, victim in 2021. He was 15 years old! He died from ONE pill that was laced with Fentanyl. After he passed away, I immediately started seeing grief counselors. I was put on medicine, to make it through the grieving process, to help me sleep. Those medications and appointments cost money. I was out of work for 2 weeks before my employer told me I had to return to work or I would be terminated. I lost money to attend court hearings. I had hospital bills, ambulance bills, funeral costs.
