Though no amount of money can reduce the grief felt, many have suffered financial hardship, or ruin. We deserve a voice in determining how seized funds are allocated.

About Fentanyl Victims Fund (FVF)
What is the Fentanyl Victims Fund?
A grassroots initiative driven by family members who lost a loved one to fentanyl poisoning. Its objective is to pursue justice, accountability, and, ultimately, financial relief.
What is the purpose of the petition?
Because one unified voice carries more weight than scattered individual pleas, the petition unites bereaved family members with similar stories to join together as one group in order to help determine how funds seized from Mexican cartels, are distributed.
What do the cartels have to do with fentanyl?
Mexican cartels, primarily the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generción, manufacture illicit fentanyl including counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl knowing it can poison and kill users. Fentanyl has become the number one cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 45 today, with over 20 high school students being poisoned every week.
Who can sign the petition?
The FVF petition is for family members who have lost a loved one to fentanyl poisoning though all concerned citizens are invited to join the cause.
What happens after I sign?
Information will be added to a secure database. As the FVF campaign progresses, updates on progress will be sent to victims via email. Victim information will not be shared with third parties without future consent.
Is this a lawsuit?
At this stage, no. The initial aim of the FVF is a “seat at the table” in determining how hundreds of millions of dollars seized from the Mexican cartels are allocated.
Who is organizing Fentanyl Victims Fund?
United Against Fentanyl, a national advocacy group, has been asked to convene and administrate FVF on behalf of survivor families. Bereaved family members will serve as primary spokespeople.
How would funds be distributed to families?
Funds would be distributed directly to a next-of-kin family member (or members) as would be executed in a class action lawsuit.
Are efforts being made to seek compensation from other culpable entities?
The current focus is money seized from Mexican cartels, though the effort could be extended in the future.

Why Fentanyl Victims Fund Exists
(Hundreds of stories have been shared. This is a small sample.)
I live on SS, I didn’t have the money at the time to pick up his ashes. I let my car insurance everything go, until they would give me his ashes. He is now with me.

Our son was newly married & left behind a pregnant wife. Ten months later the wife & mother of baby also died due to fentanyl. We have spent 4 years in court with legal fees to gain custody of our grandchild & pay all expenses related included the burial of our child.

My son didn’t have insurance. I used every dollar I had. Had to give up my car and moved with my daughter because I had no more money. I don’t even have money to his headstone or tomb. He is in an unmarked grave.

I lost 2 nieces, a nephew, and a half sister. This has affected my family horribly. My sister who lost her son and daughter will never be the same. My niece had two young children who are growing up without a mother.

First and foremost we couldn’t afford a proper funeral because he was only 25 and wasn’t supposed to die so young, I also went through huge mental distress losing the one person in my life who meant so much to me… This isn’t even the beginning of the problems fentanyl caused. Fentanyl has taken everything from my family after taking my brother. He was a father to a young little girl, she still needed and needs her daddy. Fentanyl took his future. Fentanyl took a piece of my heart.

I’m under so much stress my immune system is overreactive giving me skin Lupus, my beautiful new years baby is gone, he grew to 31 yrs but my American dream is over I’m not sure monetary compensation can revive me. I’m dead inside.

I have paid out at least $50,000 in funeral expenses, charges incurred through her drug addicted fiance damaging a rental car, mobile home, and countless pleas for money leading up to my daughter’s fentanyl poisoning.

We lost our son to fentanyl poisoning after a 6 year battle with this scourge. It has left us emotionally and financially devastated.

I lost my son, victim in 2021. He was 15 years old! He died from ONE pill that was laced with Fentanyl. After he passed away, I immediately started seeing grief counselors. I was put on medicine, to make it through the grieving process, to help me sleep. Those medications and appointments cost money. I was out of work for 2 weeks before my employer told me I had to return to work or I would be terminated. I lost money to attend court hearings. I had hospital bills, ambulance bills, funeral costs.

I lost my daughter to fentanyl in 2021 and I lost work and money for her cremation and now I take care of her son.

I lost my son victim to fentanyl in 2020. We spent 6 yrs in rehabs all over the United States. This expense was monumental. All in hopes of recovery. Sadly victim was on his way back for help when he was sold pure fentanyl. No one is prepared financially or mentally for what happened losing a child. I would love to be a part of this initiative in any way possible! Please let me know how I can help. Thank you!

We lost our oldest son at 21 to fentanyl poisoning. It has affected our entire family drastically. Financially, we have missed work and had the final expenses for our son that we were not prepared for.

Having lost our only child victim f36, on date, no amount of money could replace her loss. After two years we continue to pay for the burial costs and for the loss of all her belongings. She was taken advantage of by people she knew and didn’t know. Unfortunately, her death has not been questioned because she was considered an addict. She did not ask to die. She was happy in the weeks leading up to her death. There’s a hole in our hearts that hurts immensely. We miss her so.

I have been left crippled by grief, unable to work due to grief consuming my mind and physical health. I have had five surgeries in the past five years since my daughter passed away and still have many more to go.

I lost my 16 yo daughter to fentanyl poisoning in 2021. The loss of victim has devastated me financially along with mentally/emotionally. I worked as a senior accountant prior to her passing and now struggle to work part time in retail. My income doesn’t cover my mortgage/hoa and I am ready to lose it all.

My family was devastated by my brother’s passing in every way, including financially. Not only did we have to come up with over $10,000 unexpectedly to lay him to rest but he also has a child that will be born soon that does not have a father to provide for her. Myself and my parents are happily accepting the role of her caregivers but it is another unexpected financial hardship.

Devastating, life changing, unexpected loss of my youngest son. Financially I paid the funeral home, paid costs to make sure his dog was taken care of. Realistically I would pay whatever I need to for my son even if I can’t afford it. Those responsible for this tragic epidemic killing our children need to be stopped.

Lost only child, a son, who had two very small children of his own. Destroyed our family and left us totally at a loss. He was our world. We are scarred emotionally, financially and socially because of our grief.
